Eseosa Ighodaro, MD, PhD, is a neurologist (PGY-3), neuroscientist and health advocate, working at both Emory University Grady Hospital and the Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Ighodaro's current research interests focus on understanding the role of racism in neurological disorders. She has received numerous awards for her activism work on campus and within the community.
A Kentucky native, she graduated with honors and summa cum laude from the University of Kentucky, earning a Bachelor of Science in biology with minors in chemistry and French. After graduation, she matriculated into the university's combined MD/PhD program and was the first African American woman to graduate with the dual doctorate.
During her training she published numerous articles on dementia, cerebrovascular disease, and health inequalities within the African American community. Her recent publications have been featured in Nature and Nature Medicine.
