Art of BrainHealth 2022
Center for BrainHealth's fourth-annual art contest challenged students from UT Dallas and Dallas College to translate cognitive neuroscience into vivid expressions of lived experience.
Participating college-aged artists transformed the brain science of compassion and kindness into original works of creative self expression, delighting an energetic crowd of supporters and community members.
Since 2019, Art of BrainHealth (formerly Art of Kindness) has summoned local emerging artists to explore the neuroscience of empathy.

CAN WE BUILD CONNECTEDNESS ONLINE?
Commenting on internet culture's ability to shape modern relationships, Sarah Vu's The Creation of Relationships gently nods to Michelangelo's iconic masterpiece The Creation of Adam.

The background symbolizes how our lives intertwine as we form relationships through building blocks of kindness. Although this is a self-portrait, I believe others may also see themselves."

HOW CAN KINDNESS ENHANCE SELF CARE?
Isabella Viggiano's Expansion of Compassion uses light and color to explore the holistic role kindness plays as we care for ourselves and the people around us.
"While the majority of us don’t hesitate to do small acts of kindness for others every day, I wanted to comment on how we tend to neglect ourselves in that same sense. The intense color symbolizes emotions, interests and passions – all things we lose when we turn away from kindness. Practicing compassion can relight your world."
