About the Talk

This talk explores how everyday language — from tiny words like "the" and "me" to themes, narratives and expressions of self-belief — maps where attention is pointing. Highlighting recent studies, this talk will explore how communities adapt during turbulent periods and how shifts in a person's wording can foreshadow changes in well-being and mental health, closing by looking at Generative AI through the lens of relationships: how language technologies participate in social connection, mediate trust and empathy, and reflect our values.
Frontiers of BrainHealth is a hybrid speaker series. By registering for the season, you get a link to virtual talks as well as recordings. If you are interested in attending any talks in person, you can confirm in-person attendance when we send a reminder email a few days prior to each talk.
