Andrew Michael, PhD, is director of analytics and informatics at the Duke Institute for Brain Sciences at Duke University. His research interests lie at the intersection of neuroscience, brain imaging, and data science, where he develops advanced analytic tools to better understand the neural mechanisms underlying brain function and dysfunction. In his current role, Dr. Michael leads interdisciplinary efforts to integrate cutting-edge MRI technologies and sophisticated analytic methodologies into both basic neuroscience and clinical research. He collaborates closely with neuroscientists at Duke University and clinicians at Duke Health.
Prior to joining Duke, Dr. Michael was the Founding Director and Principal Investigator of the Neuroimaging Analytics Laboratory at Geisinger, a nationally recognized healthcare system known for its innovation in data-driven medicine. At Geisinger, he also directed a newly installed MRI core for Brain Imaging Research. Dr. Michael holds a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Imaging Science. His undergraduate education was sponsored by a Government of India full scholarship at the National Institute of Technology. He completed his M.S. and Ph.D. at the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York.
