Dr. Henry Mahncke joined Posit Science at its inception in 2003, where he led the first large-scale clinical trials of a publicly available cognitive training program. In this talk, he shares outcomes from an NIH-funded study providing the the first confirmation in humans of an intervention that can upregulate the production of key brain chemicals, even months after engaging in training. Evidence suggests the success of brain training in slowing cognitive decline may depend on the type of game and how it affects certain neurotransmitters in the brain. Dr. Mahncke earned his PhD in neuroscience at UC San Francisco, where he studied with Posit Science Founder and Distinguished BrainHealth Collaborator
Michael Merzenich, PhD.
