Rethinking Mental Health Across the Lifespan: Gaps and the Promise of Mechanistic Precision in Treatment

Speakers
Stacie Warren, PhD – Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology, UT Dallas

About the Talk

Rates of anxiety and depression continue to rise, even as evidence-based treatments become more widely available. Recent large-scale studies show that our “gold standard” therapies are not equally effective for everyone, especially youth. Dr. Warren will share research from her lab examining how individual differences in thinking, emotion regulation, and lived experience shape mental health across the lifespan. Using innovative computational methods, her team is investigating complex, interacting pathways spanning cognitive, brain, behavioral, and developmental factors that contribute to anxiety and depression in both youth and adults. This work highlights new possibilities for tailoring mental health care to better account for differences in individuals’ needs and experiences.
