For the last three years, Jeff Price has conducted research as director of the Virtual, Augmented, and Simulation Technology (VAST) Lab and Virtual, Immersive, and Simulation Training in Aerospace Lab (VISTA Lab). His teaching and research focus on virtual and augmented reality, immersive simulation, digital twins, game design, 3D visualization, photogrammetry, spatial computing and emerging interactive technologies.
Through the VAST/VISTA Labs, Price leads interdisciplinary teams, including graduate and undergraduate students, community partners, and alumni developing immersive research, training, visualization and simulation applications for government, industry, education, healthcare, cultural institutions and the aerospace sector. His work explores how interactive 3D environments can be used not simply to visualize information, but to study human behavior, improve training and decision-making, preserve complex environments, and create new forms of experiential learning.
Price has led and contributed to projects involving extended reality training, digital twins, virtual production, cultural heritage visualization, interactive education and human-performance research. His current interests increasingly focus on the convergence of immersive environments, artificial intelligence, behavioral data and neuroscience, particularly the potential for VR and spatial computing to provide new ways of observing and understanding cognition and human performance.
