About the Talk

The current approach to brain care is largely reactive, considered only when patients or families raise concerns. This approach is not working, and the more money is spent on it, the greater disability is generated.
Dr. Alvaro Pascual-Leone proposes a transformative approach, leveraging technology and learning from car racing to establish a “pit stop model of brain care”. This Brain Health Service Line is designed to support individuals across the lifespan, focusing on maintaining cognitive vitality, preventing and managing brain-related conditions effectively, and if needed, enabling long-term support. The goal is to ensure that individuals are empowered to define their personal brain health goals and have tools and support to pursue them, and that individuals at risk of or living with any brain health condition receive timely, personalized, and holistic care.
Key features of the pit stop model of brain care include: (1) Lifespan Approach; (2) Data-Driven Care; (3) Interdisciplinary Collaboration; (4) Technology-Enhanced Services; and (5) Patient-Centered Philosophy.
