Francesca Filbey, PhD – Bert Moore Endowed Chair and Professor, School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences; Director, Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory of Addictive Disorders
About the Talk
World-renowned expert in the brain mechanisms of addictive disorders, Dr. Francesca Filbey is leading groundbreaking new research to examine how memory and sleep problems may interact as a result of cannabis use. Despite popular interest in potential benefits and side effects of cannabis, this question remains under-investigated. The potential societal impact of this research is high, given that addictive disorders cause an extensive burden in terms of morbidity, mortality, and public health costs, yet treatment strategies have only proven modestly effective.
